Discover Tennis      

These clinics and camps are developed to introduce athletes to tennis that do not have much, if any, prior experience.  All of these offerings are designed to be interactive and fun for the participants, with primary emphasis on creating a love for the game.

Discover “Tiny Tots” Tennis at the Spectrum     “Tiny Tots” Training is a program designed to help young children discover the joy of tennis. It is a great way to keep young ones fit and introduce them to a lifelong sport.


Coaches Corner and Team Training

Team Training – Winter Team Training will be offered to area teams. Teams may chooses to focus primarily on conditioning and vertimax training or plan skills clinics. Please contact Tom Gibbs 561-0921 to set up your team training now.

Each of our Academies is facilitated by a Coaching Team that brings passion and vision to the programs that we have developed to train our athletes.  Please click on the links below to access the bios of our team of Coaches.

 

 Tom Gibbs, Instructor of Tennis

Tom Gibbs, Instructor of Tennis, has 45 years experience as a Tennis Professional. Coach Gibbs served as Hidden Valley Country Club’s Director of Tennis, for 40 years. He has valued experience in conducting camps, clinics and private instruction. He directed the successful Lou Merritt Tennis Tournament for many years to benefit Apple Ridge Farms. Coach “Tom” is hailed as being one of the best in working with small children. His patience and genuine love of sharing the sport of tennis with the young player is obvious as he passes on that love of the sport to the next generation. Tom values the confidence that translates to life through training in sport.

 Langston Ware, Conditioning Coach

Langston Ware, former trainer for Parisi Speed School, has trained, coached, and worked with all types of athletes throughout his training career. He is certified through the National Academy of Sports Medicine and recently received his Master’s in Arts and Teaching for Special Education (K-12). He has worked with a spectrum of athletes ranging from age seven to professional athletes. In his work with athletes, his focus is overall improvement in strength, flexibility and self-confidence.

Langston played wide receiver for Liberty University, a Division I-AA program in Lynchburg, VA. While pursuing his undergraduate at Liberty, he discovered his true passion in working with students and athletes. His passion is to see athletes succeed in every aspect of life. No matter what goals an athlete is looking to achieve, Langston expects hard work and commitment in every training. 

 Jamie Price, Speed and Agility Coach

Jamie Price-  Two time High School All American, 2001 Patrick Henry HS Hall of Fame Inductee, has numerous Football and Track and Field achievements. He still holds the 100m and 200m record from the Cosmopolitan Invitational.  Click here to learn more about Jamie’s individual achievements.A graduate of University of South Carolina, where Jamie played football and ran track, Jamie won the Providence Hospital All Heart Award (Given by Coach Lou Holtz). He was also named as a 3 time Track and Field All-American.  Jamie brings great passion to teach and motivate to the Spectrum and has worked with athletes of all capabilities over the years.
